Bali’s Hidden Waterfalls: Guide to the Best Spots

Bali has enchanted us with its stunning collection of picturesque waterfalls, offering some of the most awe-inspiring natural sights we’ve encountered during our travels. Many of these natural marvels are found in central and northern Bali, where the landscape, shaped by two towering volcanoes, provides the perfect backdrop for these extraordinary waterfalls. Ranging from powerful single-drop falls to beautiful cascades and those imbued with spiritual significance, each waterfall offers a unique and mesmerizing experience.

Some of these waterfall hikes are popular with tourists, while others remain hidden gems, untouched and serene. North Bali is particularly renowned for its incredible waterfalls. Regardless of their popularity, each one is worth visiting.

Sekumpul Waterfall

If you’re searching for the largest and most impressive waterfall in Bali, this might be the one! As a bonus, you’ll also pass through some of the island’s most scenic jungles and rice terraces. Sekumpul Waterfall, standing at 80 meters (260 feet), is a stunning twin waterfall nestled in a jungle ravine in north Bali, near Singaraja. It’s a must-see!

Tirta Buana Waterfall

Tirta Buana Waterfall features a large natural pool with a gentle current, making it perfect for swimming, though the water can feel a bit chilly on cloudy days. The dirt path leading to the falls is short but steep, taking about 15 minutes each way. The locals initially asked for 100k Rupiah (~$7) as an entrance fee, but we managed to negotiate it down to 50k.

Colek Pamor Waterfall

This beautiful 15-meter waterfall, fed by the same stream as GitGit, is a hidden gem. While a few Bali canyoning tours include it, it’s still largely off the radar for most tourists—even though it’s just a few minutes away from GitGit!

Pucak Waterfall

This is the final waterfall of the four at Aling Aling, and it’s the most tranquil. While there’s no jumping here, you can enjoy a swim or take some photos.

Munduk Waterfall

The Munduk area, located in north Bali, is home to several waterfalls, but this one with a single spout is among the most popular. It’s definitely one of the top waterfall hikes in Bali if you’re looking to experience multiple falls along a single trail.
